Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s New Offer to Peter Munya

Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has stated that he will lobby for a state job for his predecessor Peter Munya once President Uhuru Kenyatta is re-elected.

Mr Murungi was speaking in Tigania East constituency which happens to be Munya’s backyard. He assured the residents that he does not hate Mr Munya, but had to unseat him because the former Governor initiated very little development in the county.

The Governor then divulged to the residents that he would use his influence in President Uhuru Kenyatta's camp to secure a job for the former county boss.

“I will ensure Munya gets a big job in Nairobi. He is married at my place. I do not want our daughter to strain and live a vulnerable life. That’s why we have united with him and President Uhuru Kenyatta for a cordial working relationship to transform Meru people’s livelihoods,” Kiraitu stated.

Before the August 8 election, the former allies turned foes exchanged bitter words. Kiraitu referred to Munya as an ungrateful tortoise that he had put in a tree.

“The people are tired of this tortoise since it has become arrogant. I am the one that will put it down since the time has come,” he chimed at a rally in South Imenti.

Munya referred to Kiraitu as an old man who should quit politics and give way to a younger generation after serving for four consecutive terms as MP and a Cabinet Minister.

The former Governor had earlier announced that he will not be part of the Jubilee campaign team in the county but would run a parallel campaign.

“If there is a big meeting called by the president I can participate. But I can’t see myself attending a rally organised by Kiraitu because we have unfinished business with my petition against him,” he stated.

Governor Murungi and Mr Munya have since agreed to resolve their differences and work as a team to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta wins the repeat election.
