A section of Kenyans online on Friday called for the immediate resignation of acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i over his utterances regarding the outlawed militia group Chinkororo.
Under the hashtag #Matiang'iMustResign, Kenyans noted that the CS was out of order for his utterances in which he indicated that he would use the outlawed militia to deal with anyone who blocks residents from participating in next week's election.
Speaking at Etago in South Mugirango on Tuesday during a Jubilee rally, CS Matiang'i warned those intending to disrupt the repeat presidential poll on October 26, stating that he will deal with them.
Mr Matiang'i referred to himself as an ‘Enkororo’ and noted that nobody could threaten him.

“Is that what you want? Whoever is joking does not know Chinkororo. I am Enkororo from here.
"We are Chinkororo and nobody can threaten us. You all know we have Chinkororo here.
“What can someone tell me, a person who comes from the border? I am the Minister for Security and will tell the police to look the other way so that they can slap that person,” CS Matiang'i declared.
Chinkororo is an outlawed militia group from the Kisii region.
The group was outlawed in 2010 alongside 40 others by former Internal Security minister Prof George Saitoti.

Following the remarks, Kenyans demanded that the CS pack his bags and go home on grounds that instead of protecting Kenyans, he was inciting them to violence.
