4 Killed, 4 Injured in Grisly Accident

Four people have died and four others injured after they were involved in an accident in Meru County.

The accident occurred after a probox headed to Meru collided with a lorry heading in the opposite direction.

A driver plying the route stated that the Probox which had carried excess passengers was trying to overtake when the collission occurred. 

Meru Deputy Base Commander Anthony Ndung'u stated that three people perished on the spot while the fourth one died in hospital.

Those who perished included two men, a woman and her child.

The injured were admitted to the Meru and Kiirua Hospitals while the bodies were moved to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

Mr Ndung’u stated that investigations were underway and appealed to the motorists to avoid speeding and adhere to traffic rules.

Last month four people were killed and four others seriously injured after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and rolled in Samburu County.

The driver is reported to have lost control of the car which led to the vehicle rolling near South Horr town.

The four other survivors sustained serious injuries and were taken to Samburu County Referral Hosptial before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital.
