Drama As NASA, Jubilee MPs Fight At Press Conference

National Super Alliance (NASA) legislators and their Jubilee counterparts clashed during a press conference called by the Jubilee at the Panafric hotel in Nairobi. NASA had moments earlier held a press conference at the same venue.

Mathare MP, Anthony Olouch, crashed the press briefing as nominated MP Jenifer Shamallah was addressing members of the fourth estate.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen had given a speech accusing NASA leader Raila Odinga of destroying his legacy after he declared NASA will be a resistance movement. Murkomen castigated the NASA Chief for asking people to boycott the repeat presidential election after IEBC failed to meet its demands.

The Senator described the outfit as a rebel movement aimed at dividing communities in Kenya. He further accused Mr Odinga of taking his community hostage by asking them not to vote.

Mr Oluoch blasted Murkomen after the Senator also claimed that he was footing the bill for NASA MPs who had just held a press conference at the same venue. The Mathare MP further scolded Mr Murkomen for his remarks towards Raila Odinga

Mr Oluoch stormed the press briefing again after they were attacked by unknown people at the hotel allegedly from Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's camp. Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja attempted to arrest the situation by calming the NASA MPs down.

He called on both sides of the divide to behave in a civil manner and be good examples to the rest of the country especially at such a sensitive time in the nation.

Kibra MP  Ken Okoth stated that less than 4 million people have voted in today’s elections.

Murkomen said that if the votes in the counties where elections did not take place will be seen to not have a significant influence on the final tally then it will not be necessary for them to vote.

The press conference was called to address IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati’s remarks that the poll will be postponed in four counties. The fresh presidential election will be held on October 28th in Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya, and Migori due to security-related challenges.
