Raila Tells CNN How He Will Force Uhuru Out Of Government

Opposition leader Raila Odinga revealed the strategy that the National Super Alliance (NASA) will implement to remove president Uhuru Kenyatta from office if he wins a second term. The NASA Chief stated that they will shun violence but instead use the court to pile pressure on the Jubilee administration.

In an interview with CNN, Mr Odinga termed Thursday’s repeat presidential election as 'a sham’, affirming that NASA will only engage the government on how another election will be conducted within 90 days.

“If the government imposes itself on the people, the people have a right to self-determination, the people also have a right to disobey orders coming from such a government, therefore, we will not go for violent confrontations with the government we will go for peaceful resistance,” Raila Odinga declared.

The opposition chief further revealed that NASA will announce to its supporters the measures that it will take to mount pressure on president Kenyatta to step aside on Monday, October 30.

Raila termed the low voter turn out in Thursday's poll as “a vote of no confidence” in President Kenyatta’s government.

“Only 3.5 million people participated in the election, which is twenty percent of the total registered voters, that shows basically that people don’t have confidence. It is a vote of no confidence in the government of president Kenyatta and if I were him and I know that he is a democrat I would actually resign or step aside,” added Mr Odinga.

He pointed out that the NASA coalition is still intact but outlined it will comprise two branches which comprise of a parliamentary wing, consisting of its Members of Parliament and Senators and a resistance wing.

“We have our alliance, it remains a super alliance it has got branches, parliamentary wing involving members of parliament and senators, we are creating another wing that is the resistance movement to deal with civil disobedience and resistance, they will be unarmed, we will use legal and constitutional means to put pressure on the government,” Odinga stated.

He asserted that the opposition is ready for dialogue with President Kenyatta but only on the issue of credible elections.
