Citizen TV senior reporter Francis Gachuri, who was assaulted by a group of youth at Wiper Party offices along Othaya Road on Tuesday, has finally spoken after the incident.

He, however, did not divulge more information about what caused the fracas but promised to do so when he was more composed.

According to reports, Gachuri was assaulted by a section of youth who did not want particular media houses to provide coverage at an ongoing Parliamentary Group meeting.

It is reported that Jane Gatwiri, a camerawoman from NTV, was also assaulted when she tried to cover the ensuing melee.

Gachuri was saved from the angry goons by legislators who tried to calm down the situation.

He also took to his Twitter account to assure the public that he was in good condition.

"I am fine. Very fine. The incident at Wiper Hqs was unfortunate but all is well.

"Thank you for your kind regards," stated Gachuri.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Director Philip Etale condemned the incident stating that it was regrettable and promised that it would be investigated and swift action would be taken.

Mr Etale, speaking on behalf of the National Super Alliance (NASA), revealed that he did what he could to get the journalists to safety and that he 'abhorred' such acts.
