President Uhuru Advised on Who to Appoint to His Cabinet

Leaders from Bungoma have called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint politicians to his Cabinet following the declaration of his victory in the repeat presidential election.

They stated that politicians were best placed to be in the cabinet as they understand the problems faced by the people.

Former Bumula MP Boniface Otsiula stated: "The president should think of awarding politicians who walked the campaign trail with him.

"This is the only way to accommodate all tribes and politicians who were swept away by party waves."

He also asked President Kenyatta to consider vouching for an amendment to the Constitution to create the position of Assistant Cabinet Secretary.

Many members of the group lobbying for the appointments are former legislators who lost in the August 8th General election.

Others include former Kanduyi MP Alfred Khangati, ex-Bungoma Woman Representative Reginalda Wanyonyi, Tongaren MP election loser Murumba Chikati and Kenya Revenue Authority  (KRA) Director Evans Kakai.

Former Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka defected to Jubilee Party prior to the polls and vigorously campaigned for President Kenyatta.

Despite losing in the Gubernatorial race, he was promptly rewarded with the Senate Speaker's position after Jubilee legislators backed him for the post.

Though the Head of State garnered over 95,000 votes in the August 8th poll, voter turn-out in Bungoma was notably low in the repeat election.
