7 Things NASA MPs Have Been Ordered to Do in Parliament

The National Super Alliance on Tuesday issued a seven-point plan to Members of Parliament (MPs) from its affiliate parties.

In a memo shared by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director Philip Etale, the NASA MPs have been required to table a motion in the various assemblies that will do the following.

1. The lawmakers are under strict instructions not to acknowledge the August 8 and October 26 presidential election as valid.

Subsequently, the MPs have been instructed not to recognize the "government formed and/or president declared as a consequence thereof."

2. The parliamentarians have been asked to table a motion in the August House to facilitate the formation of a People's Assembly to discuss and determine the affairs of the country.

"The convention shall make decisions and recommendations to achieve democracy, constitutionalism and to restore legality and will form any bodies or organize other platforms for purposes of attaining its declared objectives," the statement read in part.

3. As part of the motion by the Opposition coalition, NASA has proposed that members of the Assembly be compelled to gain membership and participate in the People's Assembly.

"The People's Assembly will constitute a special college for the appointment or election of members, delegations and observers to the Peoples Assembly," the statement outlined.

4. The MPs have also been asked to enact a law that will establish a new electoral and boundaries commission that will conduct a fresh presidential poll on or before 9th February 2018.

5. The MPs have also been instructed to institute a parliamentary review of the IEBC, the National Police Service, the National Intelligence Service, the Public Service Commission (PSC), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).

6. The NASA motion will further seek to have drastic measures taken to create larger devolved units which may involve the revision of boundaries.

"Appropriate measures be undertaken to safeguard and promote devolution...with the ultimate objective of the creation of larger and autonomous devolved units within one indivisible sovereign nation," the statement outlined.

7. Finally, the MPs have been instructed to push for a review of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. The main aim would be to restructure the Executive, Parliament and devolution.
