Babu Owino Sets One Condition Before He Opens Bank Account

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Thursday gave one condition that must be met before he opens any account for the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

He declared that the bank that will keep the funds must first employ 10 residents of his constituency.

The former student leader stated: "For me to open Embakasi East CDF account with any bank in Kenya or proceed with the existing account, the bank must provide employment opportunities to at least 10 residents of Embakasi East.

"If the above Condition is not met the bank should forget business from us," Babu declared.

Following his statement on Thursday, a number of banks have reached out to him and agreed to take him up on his offer.

He revealed this as he took to social media on Friday to ask for Curriculum Vitaes (CVs) from his constituents.

"The following banks contacted me today and have agreed to employ residents of Embakasi East. Coop bank, CBA, KCB and Equity Bank. Embakasi East residents love you. Need CVs," Babu wrote.

The news excited many of his constituents who enquired on how they could submit their CVs for consideration.

The MP was elected as the Embakasi East legislator on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket in the August 8th General Election.

He defeated Jubilee Party's Francis Mureithi who has since moved to court to challenge Owino's win.
