State House Official Who Predicted Supreme Court Ruling

A senior State House official on Sunday predicted what the Supreme Court Judges would decide during the final ruling on the presidential election petition.

The Director of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communications, Dennis Itumbi, noted that the Court would uphold President Uhuru Kenyatta's win during the final ruling.

He indicated that this will pave way for Mr Kenyatta to be sworn in on Tuesday, 28th November for a second term in office.

According to Mr Itumbi, the petitions were weak, and that was well known to majority of Kenyans.

Article 141 of the Assumption of Office states that the swearing-in should take place on the first Tuesday, seven days after the verdict.

True to this, the Supreme Court Judges led by Chief Justice David Maraga upheld President Kenyatta's victory in the October 26 poll.

In an unanimous decision, the six-judge bench of the Supreme Court dismissed the petitions challenging the election of President Kenyatta in the repeat poll.

Two petitions, one by former Kilome MP Harun Mwau and another by activists Njonjo Mue and Kheleef Khalifa were filed seeking to annul the election of President Kenyatta.

The two petitions were consolidated and heard together, but each party was allowed to submit issues raised separately.
