Oburu Odinga Explains His Meeting With Jubilee Leaders

Raila Odinga's brother Oburu Odinga on Tuesday explained his meeting with Jubilee Party leaders in which he allegedly negotiated a power-sharing deal with Uhuru's team.

The former Nominated MP admitted to having met the Jubilee party leaders but emphasized that they only discussed the vetting of nominees for the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

He divulged that his intention was to be included in the list with the support of Jubilee politicians, adding that the Aden Duale-led team vowed to support his bid

“Yes, I met Duale, Chiboyi and Washiali over tea. I asked them to support my candidature once it is tabled in Parliament.

"Duale has perfected the art of challenging any opportunity that befits me for the simple reasons of being related to Raila," Oburu stated.

Nonetheless, he denied the reports that he recently met Uhuru Kenyatta's team for a unity deal with the NASA leader.

He described the information as outrageous meant to tarnish his good reputation and political career.

He further clarified that he does not hold any major position in the coalition and therefore, he would not be able to broker a post-election deal on behalf of his brother.

"It is not true that Uhuru sent anybody to me for the discussions, I am a veteran politician who cannot speak aimlessly," he stated.

Speaking during an interview at Radio Mayienga, the former Assistant Minister noted that the rumors have sparked tension within NASA and among supporters.

“Our supporters should remain firm. We have not yet crossed the river. We will shake the Jubilee administration," he noted.
