Uhuru's Former Adviser Exposes Government's Costly Mistake

President Uhuru Kenyatta's former adviser has exposed the costly mistake made during the first term of Jubilee government

The former food security adviser in the Office of the President, James Nyoro, divulged that the Agriculture Ministry is a mess and attributed it to the confusion created by the devolution sector.

Mr Nyoro specifically pointed out that although the Ministry had been devolved, the national government still remained with a number of functions, creating confusion of roles.[caption caption="Ferdinand Waititu and his deputy James Nyoro"][/caption]

Speaking during a two-day conference at the KICD, he blamed the  government for failing to come up with a master plan for the country to establish its national targets for key food commodities.

Nyoro, who is the current Kiambu deputy governor, noted that the government ought to have particularly developed a master plan for the agriculture sector.

"Although agriculture had in theory been devolved, the national government still remained with a number of functions, creating confusion of roles.

"When devolution was done, we did not particularly develop a master plan for the country so that the country could establish its own national targets for key food commodities,” Nyoro stated.

The biennial policy conference was organised by agricultural policy think-tank, Tegemeo.
