Uhuru Warned of Cabinet Secretaries Who Will Allegedly Destroy His Government

President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Thursday warned of the kind of Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) who would allegedly sabotage the government's development and political agenda.

Mt Kenya Youth Caucus, led by its Chairman Linford Mutembei, noted that appointment of disloyal CSs to his Cabinet would ignite controversy and even inhibit Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

Speaking in Kiambu town, he argued that some of those bidding for the top jobs want to use the position as a launch pad to their 2022 bids and not to deliver.

According to Mutembei, most of the individuals eyeing the positions only want to return to power after losing in the August General Election.

The political lobby, therefore, advised the President to appoint Cabinet performers who are loyal to him and the Jubilee party.

He further emphasized that the Head of State should focus on the individuals whose appointments would not spark controversy in their regions.

“Mount Kenya region has had Mwangi Kiunjuri, James Macharia and Prof Jacob Kaimenyi, whose appointments did not stir up controversy.

"They were welcomed by the majority, and continuation of the same will help keep the region united,” he noted.

While acknowledging that Mr Kenyatta and his deputy had the choice to pick whoever they wanted for the posts, he advised them to ensure that the positions should be fairly distributed across all regions.
