What Amina Mohamed Did For South Sudan After Release of 4 Kenyans

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS)  Amina Mohammed has sponsored a motion to enjoin South Sudan to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Foreign Affairs CS made this move during a ministerial conference in Argentina which ended on Wednesday.

Ms Mohammed was in charge of the delegation representing Kenya at the biennial meeting.

During the meeting, the process to join the young nation into the world body was launched.

A  group was formed to facilitate the process of legalizing South Sudan's membership to WTO.

Kenya's delegation, led by the Foreign Affairs CS, took the step days after President Salva Kiir agreed to release four Kenyans held prisoners in South Sudan.

The four were set free after President Uhuru Kenyatta intervened and negotiated for their release with his South Sudan counterpart.

Their families lobbied the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to step in and secure their release after they were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to steal Sh1.5 Billion from the Presidency.
