Matiang'i Set to Announce KCSE Results Before Christmas

Details have emerged that Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang'i could announce this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams next week.

According to an official within the Ministry of Education, CS Matiang'i is expected to release the results for the 615,773 candidates before Christmas Day.

“Be on the look-out because as things stand now, the remaining centers are about to complete marking and processing of marks will soon be done with,” he was quoted by the Standard.

The official who sought anonymity indicated that the compilation of most of the results has been completed by the exam agency.

A couple of teachers who participated in the marking process also revealed that most of the marking centers had been closed by last week.

The marking of the exam started immediately after the tests were completed on December 3.

The releasing of the results is expected to come earlier than usual as promised by the CS to pave the way for the admission of students to University.

In the past years, Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) released the results in late January or early February of the following year.

During 2017 KCSE exams, 615,773 candidates sat the test in 9,350 centres, being a five percent increase from last year’s 577,253 candidates.
