Governor Mike Sonko Comes Clean on Meeting With Dubai Prince

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Thursday set the record straight on reports of an alleged meeting with the Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stating that they were fake.

Through his social media accounts, the Governor clarified that the alleged meeting never took place and had been perpetuated by fake online accounts.

He further stated that he did not chair an Executive meeting where President Uhuru Kenyatta was in attendance.

"I wish to alert members of the public to ignore all unverified social media accounts operated in my name as they are all fake and misleading.

"Today, the fake FB account claimed that I had chaired a meeting of Executive Council which was allegedly attended by the President. The same post claimed that I chaired another meeting attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid.

"Please take note that no such meetings took place and these are propaganda peddled by busybodies out to malign my name," he wrote on Thursday.

Governor Sonko warned Kenyans to be wary of unverified accounts meant to mislead the public with fake offers in the County Government.

"It is also sad to note that the fake FB accounts which had been taken down by Facebook fraudsters have continued to spring up and making fake offers such as free motorbikes and employment opportunities to unsuspecting members of the public.

"Please do not make any payment for whatever service and report the fraudsters to the authorities for quick action," he explained.
