President Uhuru Kenyatta Reveals When He Will Name New Cabinet

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday evening revealed that he will name a new cabinet in 'the next few weeks.'

The Head of State while giving his New Year message to the nation stated that Kenyans deserve good leadership and promised to continue with his record of delivery.

"In the next few weeks, I will unveil the men and women to whom I will entrust delivery of the Big Four, and other programmes that will transform this country," revealed Mr Kenyatta.

He further added that members of his cabinet will be expected to practice high integrity and serve without discrimination.

"I will expect these men and women to serve Kenyans without partiality and with the very highest standard of integrity and efficiency.

"They must prove themselves worthy of the trust Kenyans will have bestowed on them," stated the President.

Kenyatta also had a message to all elected leaders, urging them to constantly improve the lives of Kenyans.

"Whether you are the leader of a family or of a small community, an MCA, an MP, a Senator, a Governor or a Cabinet Secretary, your job is to serve, to work hard every single day to confirm that the choice in you as leader was the right choice.

"The trust that we have been given as leaders is a sacred one. It was given to build, to deliver development, to concretely improve the lives of your constituents," he added.

Recently, various leaders have put pressure on the President asking him to drop some of his current Cabinet Secretaries on grounds of poor performance.

In December, a section of Njuri Ncheke elders asked President Kenyatta to sack Lands CS Jacob Kaimenyi.

The elders stated that they would hold demonstrations if Kaimenyi is named in the new cabinet because he is an underperformer.

They further accused the CS of causing divisions in the council and rubbished initial reports that he should be retained.
