Larry Madowo Explains His Exit From Social Media

Popular Nation Media Group journalist Larry Madowo has announced that he will be taking a break from social media.

Madowo joked that he had decided to stay away from social media "to live like a caveman".

He, however, affirmed that he would still be on television and would still write his weekly column in the Daily Nation.

The Sidebar show host has a following of over a million people on Twitter and Facebook as well.

He is credited with popularizing The Trend, a TV show that garnered a huge audience thanks to its format that included popular content from social media platforms.

Madowo was in December 2017 summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over an interview he conducted with National Super Alliance (NASA) Strategist Dr David Ndii.

In a letter seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the DCI demanded to see Madowo to shed more light on utterances made by Ndii on Sidebar on August 22.

“This office is investigating a case of incitement to violence and subversive activities contrary to the penal code.”

“To facilitate our investigations, please avail the news anchor, the interviewer in the above matter to come assist on the investigation and henceforth record a statement,” the letter read in part.

Ndii was at the time being investigated for incitement but was eventually released.
