At least 26 people were reportedly killed on Monday night in a grisly road accident at Kambuu along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
According to Police reports, several other passengers were seriously injured in the accident.
Kibwezi Police boss Leonard Kimaiyo confirmed the incident stating that it was a head-on collision between a bus and a truck.
“It was a very bad head-on collision accident,” Kimaiyo stated.
The traffic headquarters also confirmed the incident stating that the accident occurred when a bus heading to Mombasa tried to overtake several vehicles before colliding with the oncoming truck.
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet affirmed that at least 26 people were feared dead.
The injured have been taken to Makindu Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
