Tuju Leads Jubilee Team to Broker Unity Deal

Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju on Wednesday arrived in Murang'a to broker a deal between warring factions of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) who have come to blows three times in recent weeks over assembly leadership positions.

Tuju, alongside Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, announced that purported Jubilee Murang'a Chairperson Simon Gikuru was not recognized by the party and declared that any changes he had overseen in the assembly leadership were null and void.

Following a Jubilee Caucus meeting in Kiambu led by Mr Gikuru, the MCAs elected Amos Murigi as the new leader of Majority, replacing Eric Kamande.

"The Kiambu meeting is null and void as it was convened by a chairman who is not recognised in the party," Tuju stated.

The former Rarieda MP explained that the current party leaders were serving on an interim basis and a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting would be held next week to set a date for the election of officials.

He further noted that official communication had been sent to the MCAs informing them that the Kiambu meeting was illegal.

Tuju blasted the MCAs for resorting to physical fights to resolve their differences, affirming that disciplinary action would be taken on them.

"If the MCAs feel that there is somebody they do not want in their leadership, they should just go to court instead of fighting in such a primitive manner," he conveyed.

Governor Wa Iria hailed the party for intervening while expressing confidence that the bitter feud would end.

He stated: "I'm urging them to have tea and be peaceful until the meeting is held next week."
