Kenyan Nurse Stabbed to Death in Germany

A Kenyan medical official was murdered on Wednesday evening in Essen, Germany by an attacker who raided her retail store.

Mary Waithera was found on the floor of her shop as initial reports show that she was stabbed in the chest with a knife.

The 27-year old Waithera's family has cried foul and demanded justice for their daughter who has been living in Germany for the past 8 years.

Alice Kimathi,  the late Waithera's mother, told of her shock and pain upon learning of the death of her second born daughter as they had been in touch two days earlier.

"Waithera was a nurse who supported the family financially and through medication," expressed Kamathi's mother.

The Naivasha trader has requested the government to intervene so as to ensure justice is served.

Waithera's brother Samuel Njuguna stated that he had already reached the Kenyan embassy in Germany but was referred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nairobi.

According to Waithera's friends in Germany, she was stabbed by an unknown man who fled, the brother revealed.

Former area MCA Simon Wanyoike expressed concern about the number of Kenyans being killed in foreign countries in the last couple of years.

“Young Kenyans seeking greener pastures in foreign countries are being killed every week. It's time the government came out strongly on this issue," he declared.
