Why Raila's Swearing-in Has Been Delayed - Mbadi Reveals

Suba South MP John Mbadi has explained why the original programme for National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga's swearing-in was delayed.

Speaking at a packed Uhuru Park on Tuesday, Mbadi stated that there had been fears in the morning over the police presence which kept some supporters away, but that had since changed after the officers withdrew from the park.

Mbadi went on to give an updated schedule, in which the programme kicks off at midday.

According to the Parliament Minority Leader, Raila and Kalonzo Musyoka were to be sworn in at 1 pm.

After the inauguration, Mbadi stated that Raila would give his speech and spell out his agenda.

Mbadi further stated that they expected Raila to form his government and give direction to NASA supporters on the way forward.

He refused to pre-empt Raila's speech, only stating that it was the former Premier's decision to spell out what comes next.

NASA had previously revealed that after the swearing-in, Raila and Kalonzo would be taken to a new location that would be from then on be considered the seat of power.

The exact co-ordinates still remain top-secret.

An ecstatic crowd thronged Uhuru Park as they waited for the oath.
