NASA Supporters Demand Joho to be Sworn-in

National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters on Friday staged a demonstration outside Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's office demanding that he be sworn in as the people's Deputy President.

The supporters, mostly youth, claimed that Joho had proved his loyalty to NASA leaders Raila Odinga and therefore deserves to take the oath in place of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

This is after the Wiper Party leader failed to show up during the controversial swearing-in of Odinga as the People's President on January 30.

During the event, Joho was the one who introduced Odinga, a responsibility which is often assigned to the leader's deputy.

The supporters carried placards expressing that Joho is courageous as opposed to co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.

The three NASA principals missed the much anticipated ceremony that was attended by thousands of Kenyans from across the country.

The government has since launched a crackdown on NASA leaders who attended the inauguration.

Governor Joho was also affected as his security detail has been withdrawn by the State.

The government has since arrested Ruaraka MP Tom Kajwang, who was released on a Sh50,000 bail on Thursday evening, and National Resistance Movement (NRM) self-acclaimed general Miguna Miguna -who was arrested on Friday morning.

Miguna Miguna is allegedly arrested for administering the controversial oath to Raila Odinga.
