141 NASA Leaders Head to Court

In a show of solidarity, 141 National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have moved to court seeking intervention under Order of Certiorari to address the revocation of gun licences and withdrawal of bodyguards assigned to members of the Opposition.

The application seeks to bar the Inspector General National Police Service, the Firearms Licencing Board and the Chief Licencing Officer, Samuel Kimaru, from revoking their licences and withdrawing their bodyguards.

This move comes after the government, through the Ministry of Interior, started taking tight measures in an onslaught against the Opposition that saw the revocation of firearm certificates.

Those affected by the revocations and withdrawal of bodyguards include NASA principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi.

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, who was also affected, has since secured a court order temporarily stopping the revocation.

Among those seeking to retain their firearms and bodyguards include senators Moses WetangulaAmos WakoJames Orengo, Mutula Kilonzo Junior, MPs Otiende Amolo, Arati, and Homabay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga.
