Nairobi Estates Where you are Likely to be Mugged in the Morning

Most, if not all Nairobi estates are usually busy in the morning as residents rush to their places of work.

Cases of theft have also been reported during the wee hours of the morning and according to data from the National Police Service, this is rampant in most of the estates.

As per the latest survey from the police, some of the most dangerous regions are;

1) Embakasi region

In the police report seen by Kenyans.co.ke, some of the dangerous spots mentioned were Kayole, Soweto-Embakasi Bridge, area opposite Jacaranda Estate, Highridge Teachers’ College playing ground, Gitari, Marigo, Laikipia and Kangundo road-railway line junction.

The survey further divulges that in these areas, the cases reported most include kidnapping, theft, armed robbery, trading in Small Arms and light weapons (SALW) and assault. Most of these crimes occur between 6 pm and 5 am.

2) Kamukunji area

In Kamukunji, some of the crime hotspots mentioned in the report include: Mlango Kubwa (between Eastleigh, Garage and St. Teresa), Eastleigh (Desai Road Section 3 and 7), Huruma Grounds and around the chief’s place, Mathare North area (near Albadir petrol station), Kiamaiko, Majengo, Ngara; Railway quarters and near Equity Bank, Kasarani.

In this area, criminals mostly steal side mirrors, luggage, assault victims, engage in armed robbery, drug peddling, kidnapping, mugging and break-ins.

Unlike Embakasi, here you can be mugged at any time.

3) Makadara region

Makadara was also mentioned in the report and the areas to avoid late at night and early in the morning are Jericho sports ground, Kiambiu, Katulo Road, Mutindwa, Shepherds and Uhuru junction and Makongeni-Likoni Road Bridge.

Also mentioned in the list of the hotspots is Mukuru fuata bridge, Mesora, Mukuru kwa Reuben, Harambee, Stage 2, Mukuru Kwa Njenga near muhindi mweusi supermarket, South B near the bridge and South C near the flyover.

Armed robbery and trading in Small Arms and light weapons (SALW) are prevalent in this region as well as Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) which often takes place between 6 pm and 5 am.

In Langa'ta area, the most dangerous places are Kibera, Salama, Karanja Road, Kiandaa (dark alley), Bombolulu, Soweto, Migingo, Lindi, Line Saba, Soweto and Highrise.

Here, some of the crimes reported both day and night are theft, armed robbery and assault.

Dagoretti was listed as one of the places where you are likely to robbed anytime between 6.00 pm and 3 am around Kasovo, Ndunyu, Maumau, Kiana, Waithaka kwa Ng’ang’a, Kabiria, Mlango soko in Kwangware, Muslim Kawangware and Ndwaru road which were listed as dangerous spots.

The most common crimes as per the report are drug peddling, theft of motorcycles (Boda boda), armed robbery and trading in Small Arms and light weapons (SALW).
