Majority Leader Aden Duale Calls for Vetting of Ekuru Aukot's Cabinet

National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, has stated that the people's assembly should vet the 22-man shadow cabinet named by Thirdway Alliance's Ekuru Aukot.

The Garissa Township legislator, through his social media, stated: "Shadow fake cabinet?? Shadow people's assemblies will conduct the shadow vetting/approval."

His tweet was in response to a user who faulted Dr Aukot for not observing the diversity of the people of Kenya when naming members of his executive.

Earlier on Thursday, the Thirdway Alliance leader unveiled his shadow Cabinet and senior advisers with the aim of putting President Uhuru Kenyatta's government in check.

According to the 2017 Presidential election candidate, his cabinet appointments comprise people without questionable integrity and who were not recycled from previous public service positions.

In his statement shortly before naming the appointees, Aukot termed the nominees as "well educated Kenyans with a fresh train of thought who meet the criteria on leadership and integrity."

Following his announcement, a section of Kenyans congratulated Aukot and his team, but many criticized him for taking up the role of the opposition when his party had no elected representatives.

Nairobi lawyer, Donald Kipkorir, expressed his disappointment with Aukot's cabinet, noting that it was not representative of the country's population.

"My friend Dr. Ekuru Aukot has unveiled his Cabinet: Luos:2; Kisii:6; Luhya:2; Kikuyu: 7; Kalenjin:1; Turkana:2; Indian: 1; Kamba:1: ...Only 8 tribes. No Coasterian, No Somali, No Maasai, No Meru, No Arab, No European ... And doesn’t reflect the population ratio. Am disappointed," Kipkorir tweeted.

"Before you do that show us any Governor, MP, Senator, Women Rep or even an MCA who has won a seat on your party's ticket. Otherwise, you are not the only comedian we have," another user posted.

One user commented: "The urge to remain politically relevant is making this man to think like less of an intellectual nowadays."
