How NASA’s Collapse Is Rapidly Materializing

Recent developments in the political arena are pointing to an imminent collapse of the NASA coalition as various politicians make negative opinions on its future.

Last week, opposition leader Raila Odinga went on to state that ODM was ready to separate itself from NASA as he made strides to secure his run for the 2022 presidential race under the party.

ODM’s secretary general Edwin Sifuna also made allegorical comments that outlined how ODM was lifting Wiper Party, ANC and Ford Kenya in the NASA formation on its shoulders.

This hinted at the party’s superior position in comparison to the other three.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya echoed similar sentiments stating that ODM would be looking to engage other parties in collaboration efforts for the 2022 elections.

“Parties come together to ascend to power. We did not get to that. And now, when we get to 2022, we will look at other parties that were not with us in 2017, because we must look for an alliance to help us win," the Kakamega governor outlined.

One major signal of diminished confidence in NASA came during the swearing-in ceremony of Odinga when three co-principals failed to turn up for the event.

The reasons given by Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi were regarded as trivial by various ODM leaders.

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale also dismissed the swearing-in ceremony as unconstitutional and invalid by pointing out that there was no judge present to administer the oath, therefore, discrediting the coalition’s attempts to cement its influence on its supporters.

Another indicator of NASA’s imminent break up was Musyoka’s statement about his expectations of Odinga's arrest following his illegal swearing-in ceremony.

To abate fears of NASA’s break up, Kibra MP Ken Okoth recently negated reports of NASA’s fall out by laying blame on Jubilee for using propaganda to generate anxiety within NASA.
