Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya Hints at Forming New Coalition

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy leader Wycliffe Oparanya has hinted that the Party may look for new partners in the 2022 General Election.

Speaking during the swearing-in of county executive committee members on Thursday, the Kakamega Governor admitted that the coalition had failed and it was time to change tactic.

“Parties come together to ascend to power. We did not get to that. And now, when we get to 2022, we will look at other parties that were not with us in 2017, because we must look for an alliance to help us win.

"Let us all fend for ourselves — each for his own. This thing of hanging on people’s backs and talking about 2022 endlessly must end," he remarked.

His comments come just a day after former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale stated that  NASA leader Raila Odinga's swearing-in was a non-issue since the initial plan was to shelf the ceremony.

The vocal politician revealed that on the eve of the Uhuru Park event, Odinga hosted a dinner that was attended by former Nigeria President Olusegun Obasanjo.

According to Khalwale, Mr Obasanjo had been sent by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to advise the NASA co-principals against proceeding with the 'swearing in'.

Last week, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria stated that there is a high likelihood Odinga will join the Jubilee Party camp in 2022.

Through a post on his official Facebook page, Kuria suggested that among all NASA co-principals, Odinga had the highest chance of working with Jubilee.

"Keep this post for future reference. On a balance of probabilities the chances of Raila Odinga working with Jubilee between now and 2022 are much higher than those of Kalonzo, Wetangula and Musalia combined.

"1997 is about to repeat itself. I have been in these trenches for far too long," wrote Kuria.
