Makueni MCAs Grill Police for Allegedly Spying on Governor Kivutha Kibwana

A section of Makueni County Members of County Assembly (MCAs) has grilled a policeman on suspicions of spying on Governor Kivutha Kibwana.

The officer, Corporal Samuel Mutiso, allegedly subjected the Governor to an intense security check when he arrived at a facility that is shared between the county and national government within the county.

The MCAs accused the officer of administering the check selectively speculating that he must have been under instructions from the national government.

According to the reports, Corporal Mutiso was stationed at the entrance of the facility and insisted on inspecting Governor Kibwana's car when he entered and as he left the building.

Led by the Deputy Speaker of the Makueni Assembly Harrison Mutie and the Majority Leader Kyalo Mumo, the MCAs confronted the officers manning the gate.

They further accused the guards of working with members of the national government, whom they declined to name, to embarrass Prof. Kibwana and senior county officials.

The Governor, however, did not express any discontent with how the security detail handled his motorcade.

Governor Kibwana announced that his final term in office will also mark the end of his career in politics.

He has in the past impressed Kenyans with development projects he has initiated in his county as well as a down-to-earth disposition that saw him share breakfast with celebrities at a kibanda

Prof. Kibwana is also the deputy party leader of the Wiper party. Members of Parliament (MPs) from the party have clashed with their ODM counterparts following the pact between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
