Raila Endorses Annah Nyokabi for Nairobi Deputy Governor Job

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga has endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta's cousin Annah Nyokabi for Nairobi deputy governorship position.

Speaking on Monday at his Capitol Hill office, the Opposition leader stated that the former Kiambu Woman Representative is the best suit candidate to fill the position.

"I have known Nyokabi for a long time and her record as an MP speaks for itself, especially when it comes to promotion of gender equality, economic empowerment and wealth creation,” Raila exclaimed.

Odinga noted that Nyokabi's record as the first Kiambu County MP and her service in government is worth emulating. 

The supremo spoke when Nyokabi paid him a courtesy call at his office.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader further urged Sonko to hasten the process of appointing his deputy in order to accelerate development in the city.

Ms Nyokabi has more than 25 years of experience both in the private and public sector. 

She holds a degree in political science from York University in Toronto Canada and a postgraduate diploma in international business management from Seneca College, Canada.

Nyokabi is credited with the building of a unique community centre with a public library, gender violence centre, a recording studio, an ICT centre and a hall with a capacity of 500 people during her term as MP.

She effectively managed the national government affirmative to build a unique community centre, a replica of Huduma centre.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is set to announce who is taking up the position after Polycarp Igathe resigned.
