President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga Teams Planning National Dialogue Tours

President Uhuru Kenyata and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga have kicked off plans for a national dialogue project, Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has revealed.

The governor on Tuesday asserted that the two leaders were in the end stages of executing their long-awaited national tour to mend rifts created by politics.

According to Prof. Nyong'o, government representatives and NASA teams formed a secretariat that has drawn up terms of reference for the project.

He conveyed that the national tours would begin in a few weeks in accordance with their historic handshake on March 9, 2018.

The Kisumu boss added that an international committee was already laying the groundwork for the collaborative talks.

Governor Nyong'o spoke after British High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey paid him a courtesy visit at his office.

The British envoy recommended that President Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister should begin with compensating victims of the political clashes witnessed after the 2017 General Election.

He added that police officers involved in the killings especially in Nyanza region should be held accountable for the killings.

"Some people must be made to account. They must be investigated because many people, including children, were brutalised and killed, yet no one has been charged in court," Hailey urged.

The Commissioner called for apologies to be made by the government to the victims and their families.
