Sonko Hints at Resigning as Nairobi Governor

Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Wednesday morning indicated that he is likely to quit as the Nairobi County Governor.

In a message released on his Facebook page, Sonko indicated that the leadership in the Capital was becoming a weary burden on his shoulders and he may consider quitting altogether.

"Lakini pia mujue hii kazi imekua ngumu iko karibu kunishinda (But you should also be aware that this job has become burdensome, I am almost giving up)," he hinted.

Sonko further indicated that there were some weighty issues that he would soon share with the city residents.

"Nitawambia very soon ni kwanini ndio muniadvice iskue kama yule my bro aliehepa bila kuconsult (I will reveal very soon why I feel so and you can advise me accordingly. I would not like to quit without consultations like my brother)," added the governor.

This was likely in reference to his former Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe whose resignation came as a surprise to many.

While clarifying that his woes had nothing to do with the status of his office, he clarified that he had complied with an advisory by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho to remove the national flag from his official car.

"Sio mambo ya flag hizo nimekubali kutoa as adviced by Karanja Kibicho na Ndegwa (It is not about the flags. I have agreed to comply as advised by Karanja Kibicho and Ndegwa)," Sonko stated.

The Nairobi county boss ended the statement by wishing his audience a good day and blessings.

"Kuweni na siku njema yenye mafanikio na baraka tele na Mungu awalinde nyote (Have a productive day ahead, full of blessings. May God protect you all)," he concluded.
