8 Government Services Kenyans Will No Longer Get at Ministry of Lands

The Ministry of Lands on Wednesday put out a notice to members of the public that eight services would no longer be accessible at its offices.

The services include; all payments, registration of land documents, searches, transfer of ownership, issuance of consent to transfer, valuation requests, payment and issuance of land rent clearance certificate and the application and withdrawal of cautions/caveats and restrictions.

Principal Secretary Nicholas Muraguri alerted the public that the Ministry had closed the National, Central and Records Lands Registries as well as the Banking Hall.

Following the closure of the offices, Dr Muraguri explained that the services offered by the said offices would only be available through the Government Service Portal www.ecitizen.go.ke.

"The Ministry has since completion of the re-engineering of business processes through the Lands Information Management System (LIMS) closed the registries for two weeks to ensure the records are scanned and that the data is clean in readiness for online processing from April 3, 2018.

"All property owners within Nairobi with Titles under the Registered Land Act (repealed) and Registration of Titles Act (repealed) who wish to make transactions on their land are required to access their land details online and initiate the transaction," the notice read in part.

The notice went on to outline the steps a landowner will need to follow to process the transaction.

The ministry further cautioned members of the public on the need to adhere to the new system to avoid falling prey to fraud.

"Any party holding documents ready for registration and was locked out by the closure of the registries should present them by Friday, April 13, 2018.

"Citizens are encouraged to process their transactions online to ensure efficiency and accountability," the notice cautioned.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Lands Ministry communications officer Joe Mwangi emphasised that the system would overhaul operations at the ministry going forward.
