George Kariuki Speaks on His Experience Helping Woman Deliver

One George Kariuki has been tagged a hero after he helped a female passenger on Thursday deliver while on board in his vehicle.

Mr Kariuki, a driver with the 44 SACCO buses, was driving from Nairobi CBD to Roysambu when the woman started having labour pains. 

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mr Kariuki divulged: "I had to stop the vehicle so that we can help the lady. She was in so much pain. 

"Initially, we wanted to get her a taxi which could rush her to hospital. But before we got the taxi I realised that the baby's head had already popped out," he exclaimed.

He further told Kenyans.co.ke that it was at that point that he had to aid the woman give birth to her newborn baby boy. 

"We did not have any equipment but I did what I had to. After the delivery, we then rushed the mother and the child to Neema Hospital along Thika Road.

"I then later called her husband, who was in Narok at the time and we have been communicating since," he mentioned. 

Mr Kariuki also disclosed that the new born's father appreciated him for his noble act. 

Ms Philomena and her baby are well and are expected to be discharged on Friday. 

The baby was named Raymond Mbithi. 

Kenyans took to social media to celebrate George, most of them noting that he should be honoured with a presidential recognition.
