Njoki Chege Ends "City Girl" Column With Nation

Nation journalist Njoki Chege on Friday announced the end of her controversial "City Girl" column at the paper stating that her career trajectory had changed.

In an emotional spread on Nairobi News, the journalist emphasised that she had opted to go in a different direction, hinting at the possibility of taking up a new medium of communication.

"My life right now, is solidly ensconced in a different path from the one I was in when you first laid eyes on City Girl.

"Equally, my mind has been undergoing an interesting re-arrangement and repositioning, which has indubitably transformed my areas of interest and certainly scaled down significantly the zeal of my writing approach as some of you may have noticed over time," she wrote.

Ms Chege further explained that her sights were set on the next level of her career as a journalist.

"People grow, interests change, priorities shift and dreams become bigger.

"We cannot afford to remain on the same path where we began, and we must keep challenging ourselves and pushing our intellectual boundaries to realise the pristine deposits in us that we never knew we possessed before," she explained.

She assured readers that she would maintain the sass they had become accustomed to.

"It is not lost on me that the column has acquired a particular fan base that appreciates the bold, no-holds barred approach.

"This is why I promise my readers that even as I continue to grow into the next phase of my life, and even as they see a different type of content and approach, the witty, bold and sassy Njoki Chege will remain intact; only this time, she will be speaking a different language," she hinted.
