Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata on Tuesday divulged details of his life as a deejay and how the art shaped his political career.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the deputy Chief Whip in the Senate spoke on a photo that has emerged online, featuring him spinning the desks.
"The photo was taken in 2001, I was 21 years then.
"I had been suspended from campus after we protested the discrimination of regular students by the University. I was doing that to pass time," he told Kenyans.co.ke.

The lawmaker further disclosed: "I worked with many other DJs, including the late King Monday, Jeff Mwangemi (KBC), Papa Chally King Lion, Jeff Muya and Ibrah (Metro FM)."
He added that his stage name was 'DJ Nyoto.'
The ardent reggae fan also stated that he used to earn 2,000 per session while he worked as a deejay.
Additionally, he revealed that being on the decks assisted him to be elected as a councillor at the age of 22 in Murang'a town.
In March, the Senator attended an annual Jamhuri Reggae Festival at Kenyatta International and Convention Center (KICC) where musician Freddie McGregor was performing.
Pictures of him emerged online as he braved a heavy downpour while dancing his way through the night.
However, the legislator noted that he cannot pursue that anymore since he has various responsibilities and commitments that take up most of his time.
"I cannot pursue it now due to family and leadership commitments. I am also a practicing corporate lawyer," he commented.
