Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now alleges that President William Ruto's administration used goons and heavily armed police to overturn the will of the people in both Malava and Mbeere-North Constituencies.
In a statement on Thursday night, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader accused the government of reportedly sponsoring goons to disrupt the mini-polls with the help of armed police officers.
He described the scheme by the government in Mbeere-North and Malava constituencies as a dangerous pattern ahead of the 2027 general elections.
"Use of goons and heavily armed police in civilian clothes to overturn the will of the people sets the stage for serious acrimony ahead of the 2027 General Elections as witnessed in Mbeere North and Malava," Gachagua alleged.
Gachagua claimed that Public Service Cabinet Secretary, Geoffrey Ruku, allegedly took over Gitiburi primary polling centre and chased away all agents after his guards opened fire against protesting members of the public.
"He has stopped counting and wants to manipulate. All men between the ages of 18 years to 35 years in the neighbourhood should proceed there and reclaim the polling centre," he alleged.
The former DP's sentiments come on the back of a win by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates in both Malava and Mbeere-North constituencies.
In Malava Constituency, UDA's David Ndakwa was declared the winner after garnering 21,564 votes against DAP-Kenya candidate Seth Panyako, who garnered 20,210 votes.
Similarly, in Mbeere-North, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Leonard Wa Muthende the winner after beating his competitor, Newton Kariuki.
This is after Wa Muthende received 15,802 votes, against the Democratic Party's Kariuki, popularly known as Karish, who garnered 15,308.
Yesterday's by-elections were largely considered a supremacy battle between the united opposition and the broad-based government.
Meanwhile, Gachagua has been critical of the government, accusing it of attempting to manipulate the mini-polls held on November 27. During his Wednesday, November 26 presser, the former DP criticised the government of alleged ballot stuffing.
