Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga's husband, George Wanga, has been formally appointed as the new Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) Managing Director.
Wanga, who previously served at the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), was appointed by President William Ruto as the new KLB boss for a term of three years.
Following his appointment, he will be responsible for leading the organisation in executing its policy through managing the agency's daily operations and providing sustainable growth.
Formed in 1980, KLB has for decades been responsible for publishing, printing and distributing educational materials, and in particular, creating curriculum-based textbooks.
Wanga formally took over his new job on Wednesday, November 26, where he met Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok at the latter's office in Nairobi.
During the meeting, he reaffirmed KLB's commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Education in championing the progress of basic education in the country.
He specifically expressed the agency's readiness to deliver high-quality learning materials that align with curriculum requirements and ongoing education reforms.
On his part, PS Bitok commended Wanga, insisting that Wanga's service at the helm of KLB would help in the strengthening of the delivery of competency-based learning.
"Our focus remains on ensuring that every learner has access to relevant, affordable and high-quality educational resources," Bitok stated.
"We appreciate the partnership between KLB and the Ministry in reinforcing curriculum implementation and supporting our shared commitment to improving learning outcomes across the country," he added.
Before he was appointed as the KLB boss, Wanga served as the non-executive chairperson of EPRA's Board of Directors. He was appointed to the position in January this year.
However, six months later, President Ruto revoked his appointment through a gazette notice dated June 2025, sparking debate among Kenyans.
