President Uhuru and Raila Odinga to Visit Western Kenya After Handshake

President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga are set to visit Western Kenya for the first time since the historic handshake at Harambee House. 

According to Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, the two leaders are planning to visit his county for the 5th Devolution Conference.

Oparanya disclosed that the itinerary will see Uhuru open the conference on April 23 with the “Big Four Agenda” on housing, security, affordable healthcare, and manufacturing.

The county boss revealed that over 6000 visitors were expected to attend the conference, especially on the first day.

On April 24, the county boss indicated that Raila will give a keynote address on devolution at the meeting which will be facilitated by the Council of Governors. 

Deputy President Willian Ruto will on April 27 draw the conference's curtains that brings together stakeholders in devolution to evaluate the progress made on policy, law, accountability, good governance, and service delivery.

In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Oparanya stated that all the 47 governors have confirmed that they will be attending the meeting.

The senators from across the country are also expected to attend the meeting that is organized by the council of governors.

Set to run for three days, the conference will be hosted under the Chairmanship of Governor Josphat Nanok deputized by Governor Anne Waiguru.

Over eight speakers are expected to address the conference with four interactive sessions scheduled.
