CS Wamalwa's Remark on Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Saga Leaves Waiguru in Stitches

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya on Wednesday commented on the video involving Kirinyaga Deputy governor and an unknown woman.

Speaking during the devolution conference in Kakamega, Oparanya made a light moment out of the situation saying the incident had confirmed that his county was a 24-hour economy.

"People are eager to hear what I will say and I will be very brief. Yesterday I said that I had declared a 24-hour economy in Kakamega County.

"From what you hear, it is working," he remarked amid bursts of laughter from the leaders present.

Wamalwa, on the other hand, put Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru on the spot stating that she can attest to the fact that Oparanya's initiative was working.

"What Oparanya said yesterday (about the 24-hour economy) is true and it is working. Governor Waiguru can attest to it.

"May I say to all the delegates, welcome to Kakamega and feel free," he stated.

This left Waiguru and the others in attendance in stitches as she seemed to deny having a knowledge of the issue.

Social media was abuzz on Tuesday evening as the video alleged to be of the Kirinyaga deputy governor did round.

He was being shamed and insulted for involving himself with someone's wife.

The National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday denied claims that the video had been reported to them.

Posting on their social media pages, the NPS asserted that the video is strange to them as is the alleged statement that it is in their possession.

"Police have not received any report concerning an alleged assault of the Deputy Governor of Kirinyaga County, in Kakamega.

"Equally the Police Spokesperson has not issued any statement concerning the same. The video and the statement circulating in sections of the social media on the same issue is strange to the Police," the officers noted.
