All You Need to Know About The Sprite Rap Cypher

American rapper Rick Ross is expected to perform in Nairobi on Saturday, April 28 and young, talented Kenyan rappers have a chance to perform at what is arguably the biggest concert of the year.

A new campaign will see six of Kenya's best freestyle rap artists battle it out for the chance to perform at the NRG Wave event at the Carnivore Grounds.

Any aspiring artist has a chance to be among the six rappers with a call-out already announced on social media.

To be a part of the Sprite Rap Cypher, one has to submit a video showcasing their ‘6 bars’ to the NRG Radio Instagram campaign under the hashtag #SpriteYourLyrics.

The top 6 rappers will be featured in the first Sprite rap Cypher collective and their content will be promoted on a number of channels.

Their video will be broadcast on big screens at the event and later pushed on several viral digital channels.

They will also take part in a special live radio cypher on NRG Radio on their 93.1 frequency at 4.00 PM on Thursday, April 26, with the audiovisual production also to be livestreamed here.

One rapper out of the group will then be chosen to perform in front of thousands at the Carnivore on Saturday.

Other artists who are lined up to perform at the event include Khaligraph Jones, Camp Mulla and Nyashinski.

"NRG Radio is more than a radio experience. It’s a radio, digital and social experience designed to engage today’s outgoing, digitally connected audiences," noted Dennis Ndavi of NRG Media.
