Tourism Cabinet Secretary (CS) Najib Balala has ordered the immediate arrest of three Senior Government Officials in Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS).

This after the three were involved in the construction of Adventure Sports Park in Hells Gate National Park.

CS Balala further suspended the construction of the facility while further ordering Idyllic Mistley House which was carrying out the construction to vacate the site with immediate effect.

According to the CS, the KWS Board of Trustees had granted a provisional letter of commitment subject to a feasibility study, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in accordance with the provision of EMCA 2012.

The letter had stipulated that the construction of the amusement would be done at old staff camp with a requirement to have eco-friendly structures

Besides, the letter required that the constructor should have environmental mitigation plans that would be approved by KWS.

The CS, however, revealed that Idyllic Mistley House had irregularly started the project construction without meeting the conditions as stipulated in the agreement.

Hells Gate National Park is a wildlife sanctuary and the main breeding site of the Ruppels Vultures.

The critically endangered Ruppels Vultures is found throughout the Sahel region of central Africa.
