President Uhuru Kenyatta vowed to deal firmly and decisively with everyone caught up in the web of corruption at the NYS and other government institutions.
Reiterating his anti-graft message on Monday, the President maintained that all Kenyans were entrusted with the responsibility to be ethical and ready to serve with a high sense of morality.
“We are not going to tolerate unethical people. People with responsibility must be ready to serve and not to be served," the Head of State stated.
The President noted that ethics was not about getting big positions of authority in government but how those entrusted with responsibility exercise that authority.

He spoke at State House, Nairobi when he presented Kenya High School with a new 51-seater bus and gym equipment, all valued at Ksh8 Million.
” I am really counting on you girls to also fulfil part of your promise. And it is not just about exams. What you become as a person is very important. We want people who can contribute positively to our society”, he told the excited students.
His statement came shortly before the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji stated that 54 suspects will be charged on Tuesday over the National Youth Service scandal.
According to the DPP, the current phase of investigations involved the loss of Ksh468 million but detectives were pursuing other suspect payments that cost the taxpayer Ksh9 Billion.
He further maintained that 40 of those expected in court are civil servants while the other 14 are business people who own or work in companies that received the funds from NYS through fictitious payments without supplying anything.
Haji stated that he was satisfied with the evidence gathered by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to nail the suspects so far questioned over the scandal.
