Embu House Occupied by Governor Among Properties to Be Seized in NYS Crackdown

A house in Embu currently occupied by a sitting Governor is among properties the Assets Recovery Agency (ARA) is profiling in a bid to seize them if those charged with the Sh9 Billion NYS Corruption scandal are found guilty.

The house is linked to a senior Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs official whose other properties have also been identified for recovery.

They include a house in the upmarket Kitisuru estate and 3 vehicles.

Other assets identified by the government include 3 houses in Nairobi's Muthaiga estate, 3 barber shops in Thika, 2 apartments, 3 boutiques and 23 luxury vehicles all linked to a couple under investigation.

The businessman's wife is the director of a firm that received suspect payments from NYS and was recently blocked from leaving the country.

One of the boutiques she runs is located on Nairobi's Banda Street while the other 2 are in Thika.

Among the top-of-the-range vehicles seized from their Muthaiga home and a relative's place were BMWs, Audis, a Porsche Cayenne, Range Rovers, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota Land Cruisers.

3 vehicles and a house in Muthaiga owned by another senior NYS official have also been flagged.

2 vehicles owned by a family whose members are in court over the theft of NYS funds were also moved to police custody on Monday.

ARA has been profiling the properties before moving to court to get freezing orders.
