The by-elections are for the MP seat Baringo South Constituency, MCA North Kadem Ward, Migori County and MCA Bobasi Chache Ward, Kisii County.

The Baringo South seat fell vacant after the death of  Grace Kipchoim in April.

The Jubilee Party MP was elected while in the hospital with confirmed reports indicating that she was receiving treatment for cancer since 2014.

After her passing on, Deputy President William Ruto announced that he would operate as the stand-in Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Speaking during the burial of the late MP at Kimoriot in Mochongoi, DP Ruto steered clear of politics instead focussing on honouring the departed.

"I am the stand-in MP for this constituency until another leader is elected and I shall work to ensure projects started by the Late Kipchoim are completed," he stated.
