Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday announced that he was the stand-in Member of Parliament for Baringo South following the passing of Grace Kipchoim.
Speaking during the burial of the late MP at Kimoriot in Mochongoi, DP Ruto steered clear of politics instead focussing on honouring the departed.
"I am the stand-in MP for this constituency until another leader is elected and I shall work to ensure projects started by the Late Kipchoim are completed," he stated.
Among the projects, he promised to ensure their completion roads, school buses for schools and the setting up of a cancer hospital in the constituency.

He described the late Kipchoim as having demonstrated exemplary leadership and distinction in serving the people of Baringo South constituency.
"She was a peacemaker, who made an immense contribution to finding lasting solutions to insecurity in the North Rift. She was a strong, courageous and blessed woman," he stated.
However, legislators allied to him did not shy away from addressing Baringo Senator Gideon Moi over why DP Ruto was snubbed when he went to visit former President Daniel Moi.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi led the attack stating: "You are fake because you allowed an outsider Raila Odinga who opposed Jubilee during the previous election to greet your father yet you turned to lock outside your own brother."
Echoing the sentiments, Keiyo South MP Daniel Rono declared that: "Kenyans have already decided it is Ruto and that chapter has been closed."
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen was more subtle in his address stating that: "The late Kipchoim has gone to rest in heaven, direct - because you do not need an appointment to see the Father."

On his part, Gideon asked the Jubilee politicians to keep his father (Daniel Moi) away from the insults.
"But I beg of you fellow leaders, keep my father away from insults and dirty politics. I am ready myself to stand for all abusive utterances," Moi conveyed.
Additionally, the KANU Chairman noted that he believes in humility and urged Rift Valley leaders to observe decorum while campaigning for their preferred candidate of 2022 presidential race.
"I will distance myself from politics because I just came today purposely to grieve with the family of the late Kipchoim, but I will still be back to tell you my 2022 agenda," Moi no declared.
