3 Major City Hotels Set to Accomodate Obama

Approximately a month ahead of President Barack Obama's visit to Kenya unprecedented security arrangements continue to kick in.

However private the arrangements remain, un-official  reports on where President Obama and his team will reside during his stay in the country have emerged.

According to The Star  officials from the US embassy and Secret Service so far,  have visited the Sankara, Kempinski and Intercontinental hotels in Nairobi as they continue to make security arrangements.

About 500 US Secret Service Security Personnel are expected in the country as part of Obama's security detail.

Early in May, US Secretary of State John Kerry was on an official visit in Kenya, and according to The Nation he was accommodated at the Sankara Hotel.

Speaking to The Nation, Sankara Hotel general manager Moshi Perera noted it was a vigorous exercise which entailed rearrangement of entire rooms and spaces into offices to suit the needs of the high-profile guest and his team.

Among the outstanding requirements was to create space where a bank appointed by the embassy would set up their services in case cash or foreign exchange was needed and a medical site for use by any member of the entourage should it be required.

However it remains unclear how long Obama will be in Kenya or where else he will visit.

What has been confirmed is that he will be attending the Global Entrepreneurship Summit that will be held in Nairobi on July 25-26.
