Alfred Mutua Reveals Billions He Has Set Aside for 2022 Campaigns

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has revealed he is planning to spend Ksh18 Billion to facilitate his Presidential campaigns in 2022.

During an interview with Citizen TV on Sunday night, Mutua indicated the campaigns, which are expensive, will cost him at least Ksh15 billion.

"It opens the way and I have my own cash... I can compete on the same level as others. It is worth it because I'm not doing it just for me but for the people of Kenya," Mutua remarked.

"Anything you spend beyond that will not help. You need money to reach a certain stage. That's the kind of money needed. It is worth it if you want to move this country to a new age. You have to do it. A time comes when you say that you are doing this for the people," he added.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap leader stated he was confident he will defeat Deputy President William Ruto as the next four years are all about marketing adding that politicians win races not because of money but because of how they represent the people.

"People have seen that I am a man of my word. My presidential bid is not a way to get a government position in future," Governor Mutua stated.

Mutua also revealed he had formed a team to strategize on his take over of the highest office on the land.

"Consultants from overseas are fashioning my campaign. I am very serious. Mutua puts his head in something and doesn't waver," the Machakos County boss stated.

"I'm not pushing myself... it's the people. It's going to be a tight race. There are big boys like Ruto but I am confident. We need a paradigm shift," he argued.

His remarks on the amount of money he intends on spending during his campaigns come after remarks by Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, a close ally of the DP, who hinted that Ruto was planning on spending Ksh200 billion on his presidential bid.

“I want to tell my brothers Mudavadi and Wetangula this: If you want to be president, call all of us, and lay down your Sh200 billion for the campaigns, and the network you have in Kenya, not just jokes of hanging on to each other’s coattails,” Echesa stated.
