DPP Seeks FBI Collaboration in War Against Corruption

Director of Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Wednesday met with a delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) seeking collaboration in the war against corruption.

Also discussed were matters regarding collaborating on capacity building in counterterrorism, organized crime and human trafficking.

Haji further met with Crown Prosecution Service (UK) Director for International Justice & Organized Crime Ms Sue Patten and discussed various areas of interest including quality prosecutions, capacity building interagency collaboration among others.

At the same time, the DPP reshuffled prosecutors in his office in a move to enhance performance.

In an internal memo, Haji stated: “I have made changes in the office in order to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in performance of duties.”

Among those moved is the Head of Economic, International and Emerging Crimes Jacob Ondari who will now operate at the Offences Against Persons (OAP) department replacing Nicholas Mutuku who is now the new head of County Affairs.

Mutuku will be deputized by James Warui while Emily Kamau will act as the deputy head at the Economic, International and Emerging Crimes department.

The Anti-corruption division will now be headed by Christine Gakobo while Joseph Riungu who was the head of Kibera Law Courts will move to the department as well.

Also affected is Edwin Okello who was moved from the human rights and judicial review to OAP as the deputy in charge of counter-terrorism.

Catherine Mwaniki, who was the Head of the murder section, was moved to the extradition and international cooperation division while Alexander Muteti will now head the human rights division.
