Controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has warned Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i against crossing the line when defending the actions of the government.
Through his weekly show, The 5th Estate, Mutahi questioned Matiang'i's ongoing fight against contraband sugar suspected of contamination with heavy metals including mercury, copper and lead.
According to Mutahi, the war in the contraband sugar scandal appears to pitch cartels against one another in a power struggle.

"What they call the war on corruption is a conspiracy of the highest order where the strong cartels fix the weak and dying cartels," the team opined.
Making reference to the sugar alleged to be contaminated with mercury, Mutahi revisited how former Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku made a fool of himself during the West Gate terror attack by telling a presser that the terrorists were "burning mattresses".
"To our friend Matiang'i, we want to tell him that he is being set up. He is being fattened as a sacrificial lamb to be offered very soon. He will be the next big news item," the analyst expressed.
Alluding to the controversial deaths of former Interior Minister George Saitoti who perished in a helicopter crash alongside his deputy Joshua Orwa Ojode and the sudden death of Joseph Ole Nkaissery, Mutahi indicated that "the government has its owners."
In Mutahi Ngunyis's opinion, "The state has its owners and shareholders and everyone else is a servant of the state."
The political analyst further added that "Every president has a group of men whose job is to be blamed for the sins of the president and later on get dumped."
Disclaiming his thoughts as random and lacking in certainty, Mutahi concluded by quoting Ernst Rohm that "All revolutions devour their own children" and the ongoing scandals are not an exemption.
